No 5: PERCEPTION PARANOIA

LUCIA AUERBACH

A baby baptized in gold awakens to a world un-receiving of her gifts.

She cannot sing yet.

She met Sappho and decided to be a poet.

Words felt sacred and permanent. Nothing felt like honey on her tongue except for when they were etched into her skin. She decided that instead of songs she would scream into the air what she wanted to receive. She was determined to be heard.

Spinning in circles, she lost her head. A poor baby grows up to be a deer.

Deer DOA.

No one listened.

She screamed again.

EVERYTHING AROUND ME FEELS LIKE RELICS. SOMEONE IS GOING TO WALK INTO A SCATTERED FORM OF MY FOSSILIZED LIFE.

They heard her.

They stayed silent.

And went to the other side of the fight.

She screamed again.

THE TRUE TEST OF TIME IS INNOVATION. AND SILENCE. PURE, UNADULTERATED SILENCE.

She would scream that he scared her skin.

With a sloppy look of evil and a heart full of bad decisions, he takes her to his brother. She loses her earring, and that is how he is caught.

Roars in the wind echo forever.

No test tubes in paradise, just a conglomeration of thoughts she thought could be poems.
