No 1: DAYDREAMING

Daydreaming is forbidden

Lately I've been practicing the mental exercise of stopping my imagination in its tracks. I often find myself inside my head dreaming of moments or situations that I would like to see happening. I think it’s a common thing that most people do.

I've realized that the moment these thoughts are most free is seconds before falling asleep, those seconds when I'm still conscious.

Unfortunately, the beautiful scenarios that I picture in my head never happen, very often  what actually occurs is the complete opposite of the good things I imagine.

Since I have no control over any of this and have no one to blame but my own head, I have decided to faithfully commit to a new life motto:

Daydreaming is forbidden.

My hypothesis is the following: by imagining scenarios in my head with detail and care, I condemn those same situations to never happen. It works like a kind of clairvoyant in reverse, the visions I have instead of being fulfilled are cancelled and the opposite happens.

I can entertain myself when I’m alone if I’m being accompanied only by my thoughts, therefore, stopping my imagination to avoid condemning it to not happen is extremely difficult… I guess that’s the  danger of having a powerful imagination and the attitude of an introvert.

I can't imagine myself winning prizes, traveling to places or meeting new people because my gift as a seer of the future in reverse means that none of the beautiful things I imagine ever happen.

Sad, I know…

Either way, writing down my thoughts has always been something that helps me, so hopefully it will eventually replace my need to daydream.

Or not?

I don’t know, I’ll keep you posted.
